LAUGHTER, high fives and fist pumps as well as mixed emotions of relief and fear of the unknown marked the end of the 2013 Matric Senior Certificate Examinations this week.
It was a time for jubilation when Berea Mail visited Sastri College on Monday as most pupils walked out of the exam hall after they wrote their last paper, English Paper 3.
Outgoing headboy, Moosa Ismail told Berea Mail, he couldn’t believe it was his last official day as headboy. Of the English paper, he said, “It was good, much better than last year’s paper which I revised over!”
“I feel relieved and ecstatic to finally have a rest after this stressful demanding year!,” said deputy headgirl, Yuvthi Mayuri Singh. The pupil added that although she was afraid of the pending results, she was happy that it was over.
Triplets Kerisha, Kellina and Keyuran Maduray were excited that the exams were over. “We are also scared at the same time for the next chapter but mostly excited that it is over,” said Kerisha. Kellina piped in that it would be sad that their school life ends but was looking forward to studing civil engineering next year. Her brother plans to study mechanical engineering while Kellina has her sights set on medicine. “We are hoping for all As” they chimed in unison. If all goes according well the family looks forward to 28 As between the three.
As the youngsters took to writing special messages of luck and remembrance on their uniforms, a tradition amongst learners, many were overwhelmed with excitement and a touch of sadness as they closed the chapter of their schooling careers, with hope and anticipation of the future.
