BEREA police appeal to community members to be observant, vigilant and report all suspicious activity to safeguard themselves from becoming victims of housebreak ins.
“Please do not leave windows or doors open at night for dogs or cats whilst sleeping as you are exposing yourself to becoming victims of crime. Activate all alarm systems when going to bed, even if living on high floors in flats install good burglar bars and keep windows closed at night or when going out,” said Berea police spokesman Lieutenant PN Naidoo.
Naidoo said the public was not allowed to put up signs saying that anyone who parks in front of their driveway might have vehicles clamped and only released when a fine is paid. “Only SAPS members or Metro Police are allowed to do this according to the law. If a person wants to put up a notice he must contact the necessary authorities to do so.”
