Be aware of scams
Lt PN Naidoo appealed to the community to be wary of quick-fix scams that are becoming more creative to swindle desperate community members out of their hard earned money.
Naidoo expressed grave concern after incidents had come to his attention of people falling victim to scams where criminals used the secret cult, “Illuminati Society” and advertised making packs with the devil in exchange for fame and wealth.
“These people are asking community members to meet them at odd places and bring money so that should immediately raise alarm bells!
“People are also still falling prey to rental scams where suspects are renting out flats to people desperate for accommodation. The suspect asks the person to deposit money into an account and after the deposit is done the suspect, who does not own the flat, disappears,” he said.
