Hair extensions recovered

Berea police tracked down and recovered R300 000 worth of hair extensions and arrested two after a massive theft last week.

BEREA police task team made a huge break through last week when they carried out arrests and recoveries within two days of a large theft case being opened at the station.

According to Berea SAPS spokesman, Lieutenant PN Naidoo, a businessman opened a case of theft last Wednesday after R 300 000 worth of hair extensions were stolen from his Morningside business premises.

The suspects had approached the businessman on the pretext of purchasing a large consignment of exclusive hair extensions. The suspects took advantage of the kindness of the victim and proceeded to clear out all his stock on Tuesday evening.

Captain Kevin Stephen and his team followed up on investigations and with the assistance of members in Port Shepstone they were able to arrest a 30-year-old suspect in Port Shepstone on Thursday evening and a 35-year-old suspect in the Durban CBD on Friday. Both were detained at Berea SAPS.

“The Task Team together with the Crime Prevention team went to a shop in Victoria Street where 20 boxes of the hair extensions were recovered. They were led to another shop in Commercial Road where more boxes of the exclusive hair extensions in a range of lengths and colours were recovered.”
