ZAHRA Kara, Naseem Essa and Rumaisa Kara of Glenwood Preparatory School, recently participated in the KZN Top Schools ChessChampionship in Durban.
Zahra and Naseem both placed first in their respective age groups, while Rumaisa was placed 3rd. These results qualified them to participate in the SA Individual School tournament in Bloemfontein, during the latter part of the July holidays.
After a gruelling three days of chess, Naseem and Zahra excelled to win their respective national age group category. Zahra and Naseem have thus been selected to represent SA in the International School Chess tournament in Brazil.
