French cyclists connect with Alliance Française
World touring French cyclists connected with Alliance Française de Durban last week.
ALLIANCE Française de Durban received an exciting visit from two French team members of the Project World Cycling Tour Against Multiple Sclerosis.
Youen Le Quintrec and Benoit Le Quentrec are part of a group of six French world travelling cyclists who made a stopover in Durban as part of this brave and creative action to combat Multiple Sclerosis (MS). They aim to actively engage with people they meet along the way about dealing culturally with the illness, from organising one’s daily life to the therapies they use.
Through the ecological and economical mode of bicycles and trikebikes, the members of the French non-profit organisation Odyssée de l’Espoir have embarked on a yearlong, new and evolved world tour of their predecessors, from July 2014 to July 2015.
“Our goal is to meet, around the world, organisations, people affected by this disease, their relatives as well as the professionals in connection with this pathology,” said Youen.
A further thought-provoking challenge has united group member Gérard – who has been suffering from MS for 24 years – into the world cycling tour.
The process of documentation is realised through a memo and a film aiming at and summarising collective experiences and people met along their crucial journey.
The group continued their mission, departing on Sunday morning, 15 February.
