Hirsch sponsors writing contest

Entries are now open for Hirsch's creative writing competition.

IF you are aged between 10 and 18 and have a passion for writing, then get your entry in for Hirsch's creative writing competition.

Margaret Hirsch, Chief Operations Officer of the Hirsch Group, would like to give Durban school children who love creative writing an opportunity to let their talent shine.

Write a story about yourself in 600 words or less, based on the story line of being a 90-year-old sitting on your front porch looking back on your life. Work back from where you are at 90 to when you were 80, to 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 right down to today, the day you read about the creative writing competition.

Hirsch’s will be awarding a prize of R5000 for the best essay, R2000 for the second place and R 000 for the third place from all entries received via Caxton Durban websites.

To enter go to www.bereamail.co.za, click on the lifestyle tab and find the entry form, enter your details and copy and paste or attach your essay to the form.

All essays will be published online. The winners will be chosen via a judging panel.

Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The competition ends on 31 October.

The winning essay will be published in one of the Caxton Durban newspapers along with a photo of the budding writer.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
