Tafta’s residents are talented
Tafta's talented residents won awards for items made for this year's Tafta's Got Talent, and the Pretty Things For Little Things competitions.
TAFTA honoured its talented residents at its various homes last week, in the Tafta's Got Talent competition.
According to Felicity Crouch, co-ordinator of the competition, Tafta encourages its residents in all its facilities to make items every year for children, which are then displayed at Tafta-on-Ridge.
Two independent judges from the Hillcrest quilting group chose winners in categories including knitted garments, knitted toys, crocheted garments, stitched toys, stitched garments, blankets, and items made of other materials.
All the items are then entered into the Checkers and Age in Action's Pretty Things For Little Things competition.
“We've had winners in the past and entered the most items last year. After the competition, all the items are distributed by Age in Action to needy children,” said Felicity.
Patsy Kettle was judged the winner of the crocheted garments section, Beth Bowie won a prize for her items in the knitted garments section, Odile de Charmoy won the blanket section, Maureen von Berg won for her stitched teddy in the stitched toy section, Hazel Deme was the winner of the knitted toy section and won the prize for the best on show, Henry Mynhadt won a prize for his church in the other materials section and Min Webber won the judge's choice award for her knitted doll.
