Take your chair, picnic basket and a book, and enjoy relaxing on the lawns near the Workshop at a book picnic on Sunday.
THE Book and Design Fair Durban closes with a Book Picnic on Sunday 13 September from noon to 4pm, in the surrounds of the Yellow Container, Centrum Site, alongside The Workshop Shopping Centre.
The Yellow Container overlooks the site of the new Durban Central City Library.
Durban’s first Book and Design Fair is coordinated by Mikhail Peppas and Sanabelle Ebrahim of the Green Heart City Movement in conjunction with the South African Writers’ Circle. The legendary Word Mobile – A Car Called Alice – will feature prominently at the event as part of the ongoing celebrations for 150 years of Alice in Wonderland.
Take deck chairs, picnic baskets and a favourite book to read on the lawns. There will be a launch of the Biggest Book Tower in the World for September 2016, which is a Guinness Book of Records attempt.
There will also be a Flash Fiction Competition (200 words) and prize-giving ceremony.
Prizes for the winning stories in English, isiZulu and Afrikaans will be R100 plus a beaded BunnyKat mini-traveller for each language category.
