Four hurt in Booth Road collision

FOUR people were injured, one critically, when two vehicles collided in a head-on collision on Booth Road near the Sasol service station this morning.

According to Garrith Jamieson, operations director of Rescue Care, paramedics arrived on scene to find that two vehicles had been involved in the crash. “Paramedics assessed the scene and found that one of the occupants had sustained critical injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. The Durban Fire Department and Rescue Care’s advanced life support unit were dispatched to the scene,” he said.

Jamieson said one patient was stabilised in the wreckage before being cut free by the fire department. The patient was then carefully extricated before being transported to a nearby private hospital. A further three people had sustained minor injuries and were also stabilised on the scene and transported to hospital.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision; however, SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating further.
