Mayville police endeavour to curb property crime

Mayville SAPS personnel went out to areas in Morningside distributing pamphlets on safety awareness on Friday.

MAYVILLE police embarked on a crime awareness campaign to curb property related crimes on Friday.

According to Warrant Officer Patrick Z Ngwane, communications officer at Mayville SAPS, police officers distributed pamphlets on housebreaking. “The campaign came after receiving strict instructions from the Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel WB Luthuli to disperse in numbers and educate the community by distributing pamphlets,” he said.

The Property Related Crime Awareness campaign saw officers go door-to-door in Morningside distributing the pamphlets which contained safety hints on how they could prevent becoming victims of crime. The theme of the day was “No violence against Women and Children.”

“SAPS Mayville is committed to creating safe and secure environment for all citizens. SAPS Mayville gave assurance that we will do our level best ensuring that all criminals are brought before the court of law but we expect the public to play their own part,” added Zwane.
