Salon hosts breast cancer awareness event
A Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Awareness Day was held at Hair On Musgrave.
A REACH for Recovery Breast Cancer Awareness Day was held at Hair On Musgrave hairdressing salon in Musgrave Road recently.
Owner, Shirley Nicholson, hosted the event in memory of her mum, who died from breast cancer. Clients were treated to pink cupcakes and pink drinks and were made aware of the importance of having an annual mammogram by women from Reach for Recovery, a voluntary international breast cancer support group.

Shirley encouraged women with long hair to donate their hair to make wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy who had lost theirs. Key rings, pink piggy banks and pink ribbons were given out as a gesture of thanks to the public for their donations.
Denise Ingham from Reach for Recovery thanked Shirley for hosting the event. “Many clients share a memory of that day that they take with them, and the message taken away was to get checks done yearly,” she said.
