Durban joins Global 5G Protest

HISTORY was made on Saturday, 25 January as people across the globe rose up to say “no!” to the inescapable and harmful radiation which is being rolled out as 5G.

There were 270 Stop 5G events in 38 countries. South Africa joined the Global 5G Protest with events in both Durban and Cape Town.

South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) founder Des D’sa was one of the speakers at the Durban event, and urged the entire community to “stand together and fight for our children’s future.” In Durban, the greatest support came from the music industry, with reggae, hip-hop, folk and trance sub-cultures joining forces over a period of time to build the movement and create awareness, showing their support by playing for the cause at the main event at The Durban Skate Park, as well as previous events leading up to it.

Emma Kelly, organiser of the Durban event, said: “We do not want the harmful health and environmental damage that 5G brings with it. We do not want even more harmful health effects than we are already dealing with, with 2G, 3G and 4G frequencies. We do not want our children getting sick. The science is in. The guidelines are outdated and fraudulent and we request that the government take a look at the international appeal and act accordingly once the updated peer-reviewed facts have been viewed by relevant departments.”

She said the group were not opposed to progress but that the roll-out of 5G was an assault on every biological life-form, including plants, insects, animals and people.

“If the health implications aren’t enough to make people concerned, South Africans especially should take note, that the amount of extra energy that 5G will need will rise exponentially. That, coupled with the environmental damage due to mining for rare earth minerals needed for 5G tech and smart phones for example, should really raise the alarm.”
