Durban City Orchestra seeks new members
An invitation is open to local musicians to join the Durban City Orchestra.
LOCAL musicians are encouraged to join the Durban City Orchestra (DCO).
This vibrant, enthusiastic, multi-cultural orchestra has been in existence since 1888. The orchestra attracts players from diverse backgrounds, ages, cultures and professions who all come together to rehearse once a week in Westville.
The DCO provides a relaxed, yet disciplined and challenging environment for musicians to develop, mould and refine their skills in ensemble playing.

Resident conductor, Lyk Temmingh, has extensive experience in leading and guiding orchestras, such as the KZNPO and KZN Youth Orchestra and is fully committed to preparing the 50 member DCO for performance in three to four concerts per year. With a diverse repertoire of contemporary, classical and light classical music, the DCO often teams up with soloists and choirs to entertain concertgoers.
The DCO is keen to attract new members, and the only requirement is that you are at a Grade 6 level of playing a classical instrument, can read music and are passionate about sharing your love of music with others.
Contact Waynne Swart either by email: wswart@wsps.co.za or 076 512 2170 if you feel inspired to become a part of the orchestra community.
