ETHEKWINI Central police officers were praised last week for their good work in eradicating crime and ensuring convictions of reported cases.
Acting Cluster Commander of eThekwini Central, Brigadier Xhelithole, handed out certificates of good work to detectives and police officials from the Vispol (visible policing) Division at Durban Central SAPS.
One specific case which was recognised, involved officers from the Crime Prevention Field Unit who arrested four suspects involved in robberies around Westville and Morningside.

The unit also recovered a handgun, computer equipment and various cellphones. The four suspects have been linked to various cases of robberies around eThekwini.
In another case, Det Sgt Zulu did excellent work which ensured that a murder accused was traced and re-arrested after he had absconded bail.
The investigator also ensured that witnesses provided evidence.
“This case had already been struck off the roll because witnesses failed to attend court. The Durban Regional court had convicted Phumulani Tshambuluka for a murder which took place in 2017,” said Capt Muzi Maphumulo, corporate communications at SAPS.
