Revised transport laws for lockdown
Revisions have been made to directions regulating public transport operations during the lockdown period.
THE Department of Transport has issued revisions to directions regulating public transport operations during the lockdown period.
Public transport remains one of the biggest risk areas in the spread of the coronavirus and the department says it will regularly review the measures it introduces from time to time in order to achieve desired outcomes.

With this in mind, during the lockdown period, the following public transport vehicles must reduce the number of maximum passengers to 70 per cent of the licensed capacity, with no masks: A minibus licensed to carry 10 passengers is limited to carry a maximum of seven passengers, a minibus licensed to carry 15 passengers, is limited to carry the maximum of 10 passengers, a midi-bus permitted to carry a maximum of 22 passengers is limited to carry a maximum of 15 passengers and a vehicle licensed to carry a maximum of four passengers is limited to carrying 50 per cent of its permissible passenger carrying capacity.
The department said it requires public transport operators to adhere to the directions on sanitising vehicles and put measures in place to give effect to social distancing at all times.
