Designers share what to expect at the 2021 Durban Fashion Fair

Designers share a sneak peek of what fashionistas attending the shows can expect.

LOCAL designers are getting ready to showcase their collections at the 2021 Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) set to take place at the Durban Exhibition Centre from December 15 -17.

There will be 12 shows held over three days under the theme, ‘Reflections.’

Mxolisi Luke Mkhize, head designer at House of Saint Luke, said his collection is dedicated to the Zulu Nation. He said this was especially poignant in the wake of the passing of King Goodwill Zwelithini and his wife earlier this year.

Phiwokuhle Sithole of Norma Q Creations said: “I’m embracing the element of freedom and happiness in femininity. I will strictly use African printed materials in earthy and darker colour tones as they are symbolic of life and nature.”

 Ladieswear designer Makhosazane Ntshangase said she is inspired by rain and blooming of roses.

“I have a collection filled with sparkling fabrics, from white laces to nudes. If you can imagine the blooming of a rose and lilies you can picture my collection.”
