Glenwood school welcomes new principal

Aunusha Ramdhin worked as an educator for 14 years at the school before taking on the role of departmental head for eight years.

AFTER 22 years at Glenwood Junior Primary School, Aunusha Ramdhin takes up new post, as the school’s principal.

She worked as an educator for 14 years at the school before taking on the role of departmental head for eight years. Ramdhin began her teaching career in 1995 at Acaciavale Primary School in Ladysmith. In 1996 she transferred to Rustic Manor Primary in Phoenix before joining the Glenwood Junior Primary School team, where she would stay for more than two decades.

“Having been at the school for the last 22 years, I am excited to be appointed as principal of this prestigious school. As I work with my staff, parents, learners and the entire Glenwood Junior Primary School family, I hope to take the school to new heights and build on our 107 year old legacy,” she said.

Among her goals this year, Ramdhin hopes to revive activities and sports that were limited under Covid-19 protocols last year.education

“Glenwood Junior Primary School strives for the holistic development of our learners. In the last two years we saw a decline in the activities available to the learners. We are now on better grounds to give our learners every opportunity, not only in academics but in the sporting, cultural and music fields,” she said.

As a junior primary school, Ramdhin said the school is focused on creating a foundation for learners to excel as they continue their education and careers.

“We try to create a warm and charming environment, conducive to effective learning. We lead and guide learners in the acquiring of knowledge, insights, skills, techniques, dispositions and attitudes. These are essential to the fulfilment of their present and future needs and interests and the realisation of their full potential,” said Ramdhin.

She thanked the staff, learners and community for their support and encouragement through the years. “As I take on the role of principal, we will continue to work as one team to bring our vision for the school to fruition. Being relatively young at 48, it gives me 15 to 17 years in this post, in terms of the dreams and aspirations I have,” she said.

The school starts at Grade 00 and go up to Grade 3.
