Make this Valentine’s Day one to remember by treating your loved ones to some of the sensational outings lined up in Umbilo, Morningside, and beyond.

WITH the day of love fast approaching a few local spots are gearing up to host romance-filled events that will set the mood for all the lovebirds this Valentine’s Day.

There is something for everyone, from trivia to train rides, here are three ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year.  

On Monday, February 14

The Rhumbelow Theater in Umbilo will host a Valentines’ Quiz on Monday, February 14 at 18:30. The quiz will focus on movie trivia. There will be 30 cartoons stuck around the Rhumbelow Theatre representing 30 different movies and participants will need to guess which movie the cartoon depicts. There are prizes up for grabs. On Sunday, February 13

Musician Naresh Veeran will host a Valentine’s Day concert as the sun sets in his Morningside garden on Sunday, February 13. The concert starts at 17:00. Visitors are invited to bring a basket, lay out a blanket on the lawn and enjoy some smooth saxophone coupled with the ‘fabulous flute’. Tickets are R100. Booking is essential as space is limited. On Saturday, February 12

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic train ride on Saturday, February 12 at 12:30 or Sunday, February 13 at 08:30 or 12:30. The train departs from Kloof Railway Station and the route takes passengers on the Old Main Line, meandering along the Valley of 1000 Hills, through one of the oldest operating tunnels in South Africa to Inchanga.

At Inchanga, which used to be the halfway point between Durban and Pietermaritzburg on the Old Main Line, there is plenty to see and do for the whole family. Passengers can visit the museum situated in the Old Station Master’s House, look for Thomas & Friends in the Modeller’s Shed and shop at the Inchanga Station Craft Market.
