DUT set to reopen three campuses

Today Steve Biko, Ritson and M.L Sultan campuses are set to reopen to students and staff.

THE Durban University of Technology (DUT) will commence with a phased in reopening of the Steve Biko campus, Ritson campus and M.L Sultan campus today, which were temporarily closed following a series of criminal and violent attacks on staff and university property.

According to the senior director of corporate affairs at the university, Alan Khan, “The violent protests and criminal acts have since subsided, therefore, the university recognises the need to commence with the Back to Campus Teaching and Learning Plan that was shared with all students and staff in February.”

“The phased in approach will be adopted, starting with staff only, on Thursday, March 3 2022. Staff access to campus will be in line with the Policy Choices on Vaccination that was approved by the DUT Council on December 4 2021,” said Khan.

Khan said that on Friday, March 4 only those students who are writing supplementary/special examinations will be allowed to be on campus.
