Planned water shutdown in Durban CBD

This evening a water shutdown will be implemented and will effect most businesses and residences based in Durban’s Central Business District.

RESIDENTS and businesses have been informed by the eThekwini Municipality of a planned water supply shutdown that will affect most areas in the Durban Central Business District (CBD).

According to a statement released by the eThekwini Municipality, the shutdown will be effective from March 29 from 19:00 until 06:00, March 30.

The statement said the shutdown is due to a tie-in the 800mm diameter steel pipe being laid into the existing 750mm steel pipe located at the corner of Anton Lembede Street and Alexandra Street, as a result, the Montille Reservoir supplying water to the CBD will be affected.

The municipality said most parts of the CBD will experience water shortages during this process and apologises for the inconvenience caused and appeals to residents to use water sparingly.
