Alleged armed robber shot dead

Paramedics responded to a reported shooting in Berea and discovered that a man who attempted to rob someone had been killed.

WHEN paramedics responded to a reported shooting in Berea this afternoon, they found that a man involved in an attempted robbery had been killed by sustained gunshot wounds.

According to the Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, “At approximately 15:50, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Chris Ntuli Road in the Berea area of Durban.”

“On arrival, a male, believed to be thirty years of age, was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and he was declared dead on the scene,” said Van Reenan.

He said that reports from the scene alleges that the man attempted to rob and stab a victim. The victim retaliated, firing a shot in defense of their life.

“The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly,” he said.
