Springfield SPCA closed due to flooding
Luckily no animals were harmed and several of them had to be moved to dry kennels.

THE Durban & Coast SPCA have had to close their Springfield Park premises due to severe flooding.
Heavy rains across eThekwini on Monday resulted in widespread flooding which has led to school and road closures.
Several homes also suffered structural collapses due to the heavy rains.

Marketing manager for the Durban & Coast SPCA, Tanya Fleischer, said the Springfield, Phoenix, Sunningdale Shop and The Dog Box were closed today.
“Severe flooding at our Springfield SPCA, due to the overflow of the uMngeni River, resulted in emergency rescues performed by emergency staff at 02:00 this morning. Animals were moved from flooded kennels to safe dry kennels. Thanks to our brave staff members no animals were harmed.
“We have no power at our SPCA and are in need of dry blankets and pet food. If you can assist please do. Donations can also be made via our website. If you have an animal related emergency please call our emergency line: 083 212 6103. We are here to help animals in need 24/7,” she said.
