Abandoned kittens need a home

Local cat enthusiast Alison Ferreira rescued two kittens who she named Patches and Zoro and is desperately seeking out loving homes for the 15-week-old kittens.

CAT lover Alison Ferreira is on a mission to find a home for two kittens who she saved from a potentially tragic fate. The kittens came into her life when she walking on the beach promenade and was approached by a homeless woman who offered to sell her three kittens. Alison said she immediately purchased them fearing who might buy them, “I took them knowing if I didn’t they would probably have been abandoned or sold to someone with bad intentions for them,” said Alison. Alison said she immediately knew that they were not wild cats and would not fair very well as feral cats and added that all cats, including feral cats, deserve a home and to be loved.

Since taking them in Alison has managed to find a good home for one of the cats through Kitty Care Durban. According to their Facebook page, Kitty Care Durban is a rescue organisation, they deal mainly with the rescue, fostering, and rehoming of cats and kittens.

She has, unfortunately, had little luck with finding suitable homes for the remaining two kittens, who she has named Patches and Zoro. “I have desperately tried to find homes for them. Patches, the little girl, has been overlooked five times. Zorro, the little boy, found a home but was unfortunately returned. I have tried every avenue but there are just so many kittens needing homes,” said Alison.

Alison is appealing to the cat enthusiasts out there who may be looking to welcome a furry new member to their family to reach out to her and give these kittens a home. She said they have been inoculated and dewormed and along with Kitty Care Durban, every potential owner is must go through a process to determine that the home and living situation will be suitable for the kittens. The vetting process is a small formality in exchange for the chance to give a kitten in need a home and a place to be loved.

Alison said Patches is very inquisitive and still acts like a baby and is a sweet and sensitive cat. She said that Zoro is very active and affectionate and the two kittens love to play in each other’s company.

According to Alison they are growing by the day, “These little rascals are growing so quickly! They
are about 15 weeks old now.”
