Dante sketches out his future

Dante Lawler is young artist who is determined to one day take his talent into the professional art world.

CHOOSING a career path can be a grueling decision that everyone must make eventually.

There are, however, those lucky few who possess natural talents that push them into the perfect career avenues. Dante Lawler may only be 15 years old but he knows what he has a knack for and is keen to do something about it.

According to the grade nine learner he has been an artist his whole life, “I have always had it in me; it’s always been inside me my entire life,” said Dante.

His mother Samantha Lawler said she first noticed her son’s talent when he was seven years old, “When he was in primary school, in grade two, he would draw these amazing free-hand sketches and I would just keep giving him paper. I was so astonished by what he could do with a pencil and paper!”

Dante said he draws inspiration from everything, “I can draw anywhere and it can be anything that inspires me.” The fifteen-year-old is a major ‘anime’ fan and especially enjoys sketching his favourite characters from the shows. “My top three shows are Black Clover, Naruto and My Hero Academia. There is just so much detail in the shows I love to draw the characters,” said Dante.

The aspiring professional artist hopes to wear as many hats as he can and gap into many of the careers that exist in the vast industry, “I hope to one day design album covers for my favourite artists like Chris Brown and animations for music videos and shows!”

The young man is on the brink of choosing his final subjects in high school and said the only one he is certain about is art. He hopes to study art and graphic design in university and is enthusiastic about showcasing his talent, “I just want to show people what I can do and hopefully I can one day get the right attention from the right person,” he said.
