A MANHUNT is underway for the suspects involved in the alleged robbery of Musgrave Jewellers, Musgrave Road, on Sunday, January 19. According to police, the suspects fled in a white VW Polo with an undisclosed amount of jewellery and cash.

Captain Carmen Rhynes, eThekwini District SAPS communication officer, said the incident happened after 11:00. She said, “It is alleged by the complainant that on January 19, at approximately 11:30, while at work with her colleague, four unknown African males dressed in masks and wearing gloves came into the store all armed with firearms and demanded cash and jewellery.”

Rhynes said that no shots were fired and no injuries reported. “The suspects took undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery and fled the crime scene. On the way out there were another two suspects who were waiting at the getaway car, which was a white VW Polo with false registration number plates. A case of business robbery has been opened and will be investigated by Berea SAPS,” added Rhynes.
