Stella Park bowlers leave footprint at SA Masters greens

Masters of the game of bowling are determined to leave a solid mark on grand stages. Stella Park Bowling Club was recently represented at The Masters 2025.

SHARP-SHOOTING members of the Stella Park Bowling Club (SPBC) took part in the prestigious Bowls South Africa Masters 2025, held in Pretoria last weekend.

John Connellan, Natalie Botha, Glenda Matthews and Chris Strover flew the Stella flag at The Masters. Although two members had to pull out at the last minute due to illness, the club managed to bag the third position, missing a bronze medal by a whisker on shot count-outs.
The team was excited to be among some of the country’s top representatives, selected by astute selectors in the sport of bowling. Their impressive record over three years earned them this coveted opportunity.

“Being part of The Masters was a fantastic experience, being selected among the top was incredible. It was one of the greatest achievements for us,” enthused Connellan.

SPBC is regarded as one of the strongest clubs in the Port Natal District, having won the English Riviera Open in England, the Tiger Bowls World Invitation in Hong Kong and the Zimbabwe Open Fours & Pairs. The club has also been represented at the Australian Open, the PBA World International and the PBA Welsh and Scottish Masters.
Next on the green horizon is the SA Inter-districts tournament taking place in Cape Town in March, where Stella will be representing the Port Natal District.
