Wylie House hosts ’90s-themed fundraiser concert

The '90s Mania show will play at The Barnyard on March 30 as a fundraiser for the Wylie House childcare facility.

THE Wylie House Child and Youth Care Centre is hosting ’the ’90s Mania show as part of a fundraising initiative at the Barnyard Theatre on March 30 at 14:00.
The nineties will always be remembered as the last great decade in music history. ’90s Mania is a celebration of this cool decade filled with a variety of pop, rock, alternative, old school and a collection of one-hit wonders.

Featuring a 10-piece cast of singers and musicians, ’90s Mania is a blast from the past which witnessed the emergence of a new selection of rock and pop divas, including The Cranberries, Shania Twain, Roxette, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan as well as new male rockers, including Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz and Ricky Martin.

The hip-hop scene achieved popularity with Coolio and Will Smith, whilst the all-girl groups emerged with a vengeance – with names such as The Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child, all dominating the ’90s pop charts. The old school rockers also made their mark with groups such as Genesis, Mike and The Mechanics and Bon Jovi, while South African music took to the world stage with artists including Mango Groove and Mandoza.

Wylie House is a registered childcare facility and non-profit organisation offering services to “at risk” young female children between the ages of three and a half to 18 years.
