“The first five commitments are not bargaining chips. They are ActionSA’s conditions for governing eThekwini, namely: restore basic services, insource essential municipal services, restore financial discipline and end corruption, restore law and order, and build a growing, clean and responsive city.”
He added, “Our city has extraordinary potential, yet too many residents wake up every day to dry taps, broken roads, unemployment, crime and a municipality that has forgotten who it serves.”
He emphasised that the first five commitments were non-negotiable conditions for any coalition government because they place residents before politics.

The party’s solutions, if they ascend to the higher office, include repairing major leaks within 48 hours and replacing ageing pipelines; investing in preventative maintenance; insourcing and minimising reliance on contractors and labour brokers; strengthening revenue collection; establishing a specialised Metro Police Unit dedicated to illegal immigration, drugs, illegal businesses and hijacked buildings; and upgrade substations, improve maintenance, speed up repairs and combat cable theft.
Mncwango is the provincial chairperson of ActionSA in KZN. He was a Member of the KZN Legislature from 2018 to 2022 and served as the Leader of the Opposition in the KZN Legislature from 2018 to 2019.
