Mother and child injured in Glenwood vehicle rollover

A vehicle rolled multiple times leaving a mother and child as well as two others injured in a serious crash in Glenwood.

A MOTHER and her young child had to be rushed to hospital for treatment after surviving a multi-vehicle crash and rollover in Glenwood this afternoon.

According to ALS Paramedics, the traumatic incident occurred around 13:00 on Rick Turner Road, before Queen Mary Avenue. Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, said the serious crash involved two SUV vehicles and left four people injured. He said, “Paramedics arrived on scene to find chaos as they found the badly damaged vehicles in the roadway. Paramedics were shown to a mother and her young child who had been injured after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled numerous times after the initial impact.

“A total of four people were treated and stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required,” said Jamieson. “At this stage the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however SAPS and Metro Police were in attendance and will be investigating further.”

The incident was among a few that ALS Paramedics had to respond to today in the Greater Durban area with multiple people injured.

Jamieson said, “Just after 07:00, ALS Paramedics responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Stanger Street, north bound before Argyle Road in the Durban CBD. Paramedics found approximately five vehicles involved in this crash with multiple casualties. Immediately more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched. Approximately 10 people were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.”

On the M7, Durban bound before Bellville off ramp, a truck collided with a bus carrying special needs teenagers. There were multiple injuries, with nine people transported to hospital for further care.
