Depression, anxiety group launches free online support
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has announced the launch of a free online trauma support group, offering people a safe and confidential space to heal, connect, and grow
TO reduce isolation, and help with validation of emotions and experiences, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has introduced another platform, an online support group.
The trauma support group launches on Thursday, October 2, at 09:00. Thereafter, meetings will be held weekly on Thursdays.
“Trauma affects how we feel, think, and connect, and too often people carry it alone, without support or understanding,” shared SADAG. The Support Group will be led by Natasha Mizra, whose own journey through trauma has inspired her to support others facing similar struggles.

“Healing begins with acknowledgement, reframing, and healthy coping,” said Mizra.
“The purpose of the support group is to offer people a non-judgemental space to share their experiences, learn coping strategies, and build resilience through mutual support. Her approach is rooted in compassion, lived experience, and the belief that recovery is a lifelong path guided by self-awareness and empathy,” Mizra added.
The benefits of joining the support group are said to include practical tools for managing anxiety, flashbacks, and triggers, and empowerment through giving and receiving support.

Mizra believes that support can create a lasting impact of healing and growth. “This support group exists to provide belonging, rebuild trust and self-worth, and teach coping skills that promote personal growth and compassion,” she said.
The group is open to anyone navigating trauma, including childhood trauma, abuse, grief, or other life-changing experiences.
“Support groups provide a space where experiences are validated, and healing can take place among those who truly understand,” said Mizra.
