Trick-or-Treat: Durban gears up for spooktacular Halloween
Durban Halloween 2025: Discover spooky events, trick-or-treat nights, and family fun happening across the city
DURBANITES, it’s that time of the year again when you have to decide whether you are a good or bad witch, favour the scary over the calm or just simply embracing the spirit of Halloween.
Observed annually throughout the world on October 31, Halloween has grown in popularity over the years in South Africa. From the young to the old, Durbanites are embracing the spirit of the western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. As we near the date, a number of events will be taking place throughout city. From the north to south, Durban is gearing to host a number of spooktacular Halloween events in the upcoming weeks.
If you are looking for a jump scare or a sugar rush this Halloween, see the list of events below:
• Get the Z-Apocalypse Experience with the Marshall Security Neighbourhood Halloween: A trick-or-treat walk and Movie Night on Thursday, October 30, from 17:00. A change in venue means the event will now be taking place at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club. There will be food vendors and a kids zone on site. Tickets cost R10 and can be purchased via Quicket.

• The Pavilion Shopping Centre will be hosting a Trick or Treat Night Market on Saturday, October 25, where you can score yourself some spooktacular deals from 15:00 to 22:00. The frightfully fun Halloween Trick or Treat Night Market will be hosted at Undercover B Parking Lot (Access via Entrance 5 or 6). It will be filled with food, crafts, and live music. Entry is free, so grab your costumes, bring the family, and get ready for a night of treats, tunes, and Halloween magic.
• This year’s, Made in Chatsworth Market’s Trick or Treat Halloween Dance Party will be on Saturday, October 25, kicking off at 18:00 at Depot Road Memorial Primary School in Chatsworth. In addition to dancing under the stars, attendees can look forward to a spooky movie screening, from eerie classics to family-friendly frights on the big screen. • Halloween Up The Hill – The Monster March Party will be held on Friday, October 31, at the Kloof Country Club. Start your night at the Halloween Market at Kloof Country Club spooky stalls, trick-or-treats, and family fun during the day until 20:00. When darkness falls, the monsters come out to play and the Greenside Bunker will be transformed into a haunted party zone with lights, beats, and chaos till late. Entry is free and there will be prizes for Best Dressed. It is kid-friendly before 20:00.
• Halloween on Florida Road. Florida Road UIP is inviting the community to get dressed up in their spookiest outfits to trick-or-treat along the popular street on Saturday, November 1, from 11:00 to 14:00. Security and law enforcement will accompany the trick-or-treaters as they look to fill their baskets with goodies and vouchers from residents and local businesses.

If you are brave enough to venture out of Durban on Halloween, here are some out of town events:
• On Halloween Day, Friday October 31, you can challenge your taste buds frightful bites and delights and spooky signature cocktails at the Wicked and Wild Halloween Party which will be hosted at Zizi Bar and Grill. Featuring live music and a costume contest with prizes, the party starts at 20:00 at 5 Rethman Drive in Umtentweni. Tickets cost R100 and can be purchased via Webtickets or at the door for R150.
• An unforgettable evening of thrills, chills, and family fun at the KZN Museum. Night at the Museum Halloween Edition will be hosted at the KZN Museum in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, October 31, from 17:00 to 20:00. Tickets for the event range from R65 to R80 at Webtickets. Tickets can also be purchased from the museum.
