Initiative to strengthen ties in Ward 33

Residents and ratepayers in Ward 33 will be afforded an opportunity to reinforce links with local government through the Masakhane Outreach Programme.

The Masakhane Outreach Programme is an initiative of eThekwini Municipality that aims to promote community participation and fast-track service delivery.

The platform is expected to bring councillors, officials, and various departments directly to communities to resolve issues. The gathering will take place on May 30, at 10:00, at Stella Park Bowling Club, Umbilo.

EThekwini Ward 33 – 100 days on

The City’s departments and units that have confirmed for the outreach programme in Ward 33 are Waste Management, Environmental, Revenue (Billing queries/Indigent applications), Business Support, Durban Metro Police, Human Settlement, Disaster Management, Roads/Stormwater, Ethekwini Transport Authority, Energy/Electricity, Water and Sanitation, Safer Cities, Social Development, Community Participation, and Area-Based Management.

“Revenue Department has requested anyone requiring indigent support to bring through ID documents and proof of income, as well as their latest municipal bill for all account queries. Transport will be available for all those who require it,” said ward councillor Fran Kristopher.

Local service delivery platform scores world first

“I encourage residents to support this Outreach Programme, as I have received multiple queries across the spectrum about service delivery within our ward. Now is the time to table all concerns and get direct feedback from the relevant departments,” said Kristopher.

There will be two shuttles available on the day from 09:00 (throughout the duration of the Programme Outreach). To book a shuttle, refer to the link: https://whatsform.com/0HUIc0 before May 28.
