Bar back in business at Stella Park Bowling Club

The long wait is finally over as the club prepares to pour its first drinks under its new liquor licence on Sunday.

AFTER nine months of uncertainty, Stella Park Bowling Club has officially been granted its liquor licence, paving the way for the reopening of its bar this weekend.

The club announced on Thursday, July 16, that the licence is now active, allowing it to legally trade. While the stamped copy is awaiting collection from the dispatch officer, it will be displayed at the club once received.

Executive committee secretary Lara Richards said the club’s bar is temporarily closed while staff stock the shelves and complete the remaining compliance requirements ahead of reopening.

Executive committee secretary Lara Richards said the milestone comes after an extremely challenging nine months for the club.

Without a liquor licence, Stella Park Bowling Club was forced to close its bar, which is its primary source of income, placing the club under severe financial strain.

“As members we stepped up to keep the club afloat and pay salaries for staff and security,” said Richards.

To generate much-needed revenue during the closure, the club opened its premises for community events and fundraising initiatives.

“We cannot begin to express how relieved and grateful we are after this nine-month journey. Thank you to everyone that supported and encouraged us along the way,” she said. “Your generosity helped us reopen our bar and continue serving our members and the community for many years to come. We look forward to welcoming you back to the club.”

The club has also reminded members that no alcohol may be brought onto the premises once trading resumes. In line with the conditions of its liquor licence, all alcohol consumed at the club must be purchased from the club bar.

Approved trading hours are Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00, and Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 to 18:00.
