You won’t believe which Berea Mail articles got the most clicks in 2022

THE Berea Mail website saw more than 826 600 page views over the course of 2022, with readers logging on each day. On November 12, we saw a spike in readership with 20 318 page views of our site. Here is a list of articles that racked up the most views:
Our most popular piece with 36 728 page views featured a local burger joint, Smokin Joe’s, which gained attention from international travel, food and hotel company Big 7 Travel. The company named the Gypsy King Burger by Smokin’ Joe’s Knockout Burgers the 12th-best burger in the world.
When we reported on the safe return of Morningside resident Chad Dorkin after a kidnapping ordeal, the article was shared far and wide with 14 333 page views reflecting. The 24-year-old was taken by abductors while visiting friends at Woodford Grove off Umgeni Road in June.
In October, Berea Mail shared the eThekwini Municipality’s guidelines for Durban residents to follow when using fireworks. This drew 13 206 page views to the site.
In August, Berea Mail spoke to town and regional planner, Dr Soobs Moonsamy, who discussed how inner-city decline or ‘urban decay’ is a complex problem. The article saw 12 221 page views.
More recently, on December 7, we reported on Ster-Kinekor’s plans to close the cinema complex in Musgrave Centre – the article racked up 10 826 page views.
