ANC Councillor Candidate for Ward 28 in Durban says that he has major plans to improve the ward if he is successful in his bid.

Councillor Candidate for Ward 28, Ntandoyenkosi Khuzwayo, 41 says he has major plans in store should he be elected.

He was elected as councillor in the 2016 LGE, re-elected in 2021 and is standing again in 2026.

Khuzwayo highlighted projects he has delivered on, as part of the inner-city regeneration:

  • A facility for mealie-cookers, to curb the cooking of mealies all over the city, bead sellers market, various recycling drop centres, renovation of taxi ranks, resurfaced major roads and sidewalks in the CBD, led the street lights fixing projects, leading the establishment of UIPs in the city centre to fight crime and ensure safety and security.

Khuzwayo said that he had bigger plans for the city. These include:

  • As part of the inner-city regeneration, he intends on tackling homelessness in the streets of the CBD.
  • Ensuring shops and trading stalls in the CBD are compliant and owned by South Africans.

“I am already working with various municipal departments on these.”

He also aims to prioritise the conversion of hijacked buildings into safe and useful spaces.

“The focus is on creating an ideal CBD where people are able to work, live, play and pray.”
