Three unidentified bodies found in city centre, police seek assistance

Three unidentified bodies were found in the Durban CBD in separate incidents. As part of the investigation Durban Central SAPS is seeking assistance in identifying the deceased and families.

DURBAN Central SAPS detectives are appealing to the public to assist in three separate investigations involving cases of inquest, following the discovery of three bodies of men in the city centre.

The first incident took place on Charlotte Maxeke Street (formerly Beatrice Street). “On  January 13 at about 07:00, our members attended to a complaint on Beatrice Street outside the clinic. On arrival, police noticed the body of an African male with no visible injuries. The deceased was unknown with no address, aged +- 46  years of age,” explained Sergeant Zanele Khomo, spokesperson of Durban Central SAPS.

She continued, “A second incident also involves an African male. His body was discovered by police on the afternoon of January 21 along the Victoria Embankment. Upon investigation, the deceased appeared to be between the ages of 30 and 37. The body had no injuries.

“On February 4, another body was found around 09:00. Police attended to a complaint of an inquest in Albert Park, St Andrews Street. On arrival, police noticed the body of an African male with no visible injuries. The deceased was also unknown with no address, aged +- 30 years of age.”

Anyone with information which can assist the police to solve the inquest cases is urged to contact detective constable Mbhele on 031 325 4155 / 082 840 0528 and Sergeant Mncube on 031 325 4114 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
