Durban Central SAPS welcomes new Station Commissioner

One of the country's biggest police stations, Durban Central, has scored massively with the latest appointment of Brigadier Trevor Small as the captain of the ship. Small boasts plenty experience in policing and promises to use it to improve crime-fighting in the city of eThekwini.

YESTERDAY marked a historic day in the life of a police officer who has dedicated half his life to policing. The newly appointed Brigadier Trevor Small is the new station commissioner at the Durban Central SAPS.

Brigadier Sakhengenkosi Zuma, Head of  Visible Policing in the Ethekwini District office, welcomed Brigadier Small to the Durban Central management on behalf of Ethekwini District Commissioner Major General Makhosazana Kheswa. The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, conferred his rank at the level of a Brigadier on March 14.

Brigadier Small thanked all management present and assured the station that he was prepared to work for Durban Central SAPS, which is among the top 30 stations that contribute to fighting crime nationally. He promised to engage with all components and to meet all members at his new home.

Brigadier Small is the former station commander for Montclair Police Station since 2020. His last day at the Montclair Police Station was at the end of March. He holds a master’s degree in policing and has held a variety of roles in crime prevention, investigations, the inspectorate, and administration. He has worked in several police stations around the city, where he ensured that a difference was made, ie Wentworth, Brighton Beach, Cato Manor, Sydenham, Malvern, the inspectorate, Chatsworth, and Montclair.
