THE Pocket Crystal Magic is the perfect gift for anyone who is interested in — or has just started dabbling in — the realm of spiritualism or crystology.
This gorgeous hardcover booklet offers a guide to over 30 crystals, listed alphabetically. Readers will discover each stone’s zodiac and elemental associations, along with how these mystic treasures can be used to enhance various aspects of life — from manifestation and dream enhancement to energy cleansing, love attraction, protection, and more.
Importantly, it also includes helpful advice on how to store, recharge, and cleanse your crystals.
The little booklet is a visual delight. It’s orderly, concise, and beautifully designed.
However, I have two criticisms. Firstly, all the crystal illustrations are pink. It would have been far more useful — especially for beginners — if the images reflected the actual appearance of each stone. Secondly, I was disappointed to find no input from any experts in the field — not even a yogi, reiki master, or holistic healer.
While some may view this realm as pseudoscience, I believe that expert voices would have brought much-needed depth and credibility to the content. Without them, the information felt a little phoney and derivative.
That said, this book is more of a charming introduction than a deep dive. It’s a decorative and digestible read — ideal for coffee tables, casual browsing, or gifting to someone just beginning to dip their toes into the world of crystals. For those with a genuine interest in spiritual practices or crystal healing, however, this booklet will likely feel too perfunctory, lacking the depth and nuance that more serious readers might seek.
If you’re looking to truly explore the power, purpose, and practice of crystal work, there are far more informative and enriching resources available — particularly those grounded in experience and written with the insight of practitioners and experts in the field. This one’s sweet and shiny, but it only scratches the surface. 3/5 stars – Mariclair Smit
