EDITOR – A friend’s car was broken into last week outside Oscars café. His iPad and laptop were stolen. When he parked, a car guard was on duty. When he returned to his car and discovered items stolen, he questioned the car guard and the car
guard claimed he had ‘gone to lunch’ so knew nothing about the theft. This is totally unacceptable and other motorists need to be warned that their cars are not safe.
I also heard that an equipment supplier had a photocopier machine stolen from her car outside Embury School (she had parked for 20 minutes). The car guards also said they had ‘gone to lunch’ when the robbery was discovered.
The car guards involved in these incidents might be innocent, but the public need to be warned to be vigilant and hide valuables despite the presence of car guards.
