EDITOR – As a resident of the Berea I found the concert held on Tuesday an absolute noisy affair,
I think the management of the Botanical Gardens should seriously relook the calibre of music they allow to perform in the park.
It was noisy and a disturbance to the neighbourhood. You should re-look what is on offer and what the sponsorship approve of.

Dear Elmar – The Old Mutual Music at the Lake Concert Series is planned in advance and organized by the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust in conjunction with the Durban Botanic Gardens management team and the current sponsors. The objective of these concerts is to raise funds which are donated back to the Gardens for various maintenance and development projects. The Durban Botanic Gardens is a public Gardens and our mandate is to host concerts that appeal to a wide and diverse audience.
The sound level at the concert held this past weekend was below the allowed decibel limit set out for these events, however the wind could have played a factor in the sound being carried further than normal.
The next and final Music At The Lake concert for this year will be the Carols by Candlelight Concert with the Durban City Orchestra which is to be held on the evening of the 13th December 2013. Should you wish to attend this concert the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust would be happy to offer you 4 complimentary tickets.
We value your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Curator/associate director of Botanic Gardens
