EDITOR – We appreciate the National Lottery’s processes and have adhered to their requirements. We also completely support the due diligence they undertake to ensure that the funds are suitably apportioned, however Childline KZN finds itself with a shortfall and hence the call to the public to assist. Without urgent intervention and support, Childline KZN will have to close additional services, which will directly affect children in need. Something we, as a society, simply cannot allow to happen. To this end, we have approached both the corporate sector and the general public for assistance, which to date has raised some R400,000. This week (23 and 24 October) we embark upon our hero-thon where local personalities and businesspeople will fundraise on our behalf, and our goal is to raise R2-million. This will provide some stability and viability for Childline KZN into the future.
Mr Mervyn Sigamoney
Chairman of the Board of Childline KZN
