We’ve become cat fans

A family of feral cats have been fostered by a Carrington Heights couple.

EDITOR – I so enjoyed reading about the unsung hero of the cat world in your recent edition. What a wonderfully caring and selfless person Ms Goodman must be.

I must admit we have only become cat fans in the past year or two. When a family with three stray/feral cats moved into the semi beside us, my husbands’s and my heart sank. During the day we are already plagued by children playing noisy games in the close after school, dogs baring and whining when their owners are at work, to say nothing of their fouling of the pavements and island.

We thought we would now have screeching cat fights to disturb us at night. But we were quite wrong.

The cats are quiet and clean, bury their poos in the garden and have almost eliminated the mice problems we have been having.

Or neighbours can confirm that, as their cfats regularly bring the corpses home as trophies and leave their owners to dispose of them!

We were so smitten that we even made enquiries at the SPCA about adopting one for ourselves, but the charges for necessary innoculations and sterilising are too high for us pensioners to afford, so we act as foster family for the cats next door, now that they trust us and occasionally visit for tidbits and cuddles.

And next time we go to Essenwood Market we will certainly look out for her and make a contribution towards her marvelous work.
