Neighbour had to fetch police

An elderly man had to go fetch Umbilo police to attend to a suspect he caught on his property after police failed to arrive when he first called them.

EDITOR – Last night (Sunday) at around 11.15pm I witnessed a suspect jump a wall of a neighbour and about 20 minutes later I heard the occupants of the house make a noise. Upon inspection I noticed that they had apprehended the suspect. They contacted Umbilo SAPS. Half an hour later the Umbilo SAPS were still not on the scene. The elderly husband had to get into his car and go to the station to fetch them, while his son and another watched over the suspect. Fifteen minutes later the elderly man arrived with the SAPS from Umbilo. What disturbs me is that we as citizens have to fetch the police and take them to a crime scene which is absolutely shocking and to top it off, an elderly man had to do this. Come on, we pay our taxes, does it mean if a person gets raped, will you then ONLY come?
