EDITOR – I would like to encourage all ratepaying residents in the Florida Road area to complain in order to ensure the insane event which took place on Saturday, 4 January in Florida Road never reoccurs.
Our ears were bombarded with noise over a blaring loudspeaker system for 10 hours. It made no sense. Closing all doors and windows brought no relief to an unbearable noise. Unfair to locals in the heat of summer. Police and councillors declared they could do nothing as it was a municipal event.
Since when is the municipality allowed to break bylaws regarding “disturbance of the peace” which this event most certainly was. Who was this event targeting? How do other residents feel? It most certainly must have had an impact on the restaurants opposite the event. Who can enjoy their cappuccino or meal when no conversation is possible?
