EDITOR – My daughter attends DUT and this is her second year. As a parent, I am disappointed that the DUT management cannot prevent these strikes and ask myself how do these young so-called student leaders get so much power?
Why can’t the management protect our children. We work very hard to pay fees and I understand the concern for the poor students and their families but why must these things get violent.
The Minister needs to sort out the NSFAS issues so that the war does not happen on our campuses. Our children must go there to learn and not go there to strike.
I feel very sorry for the thousands of students who are not part of this SASCO thing and who cannot be protected by their university.
I am glad that the management has stopped classes until they can restore peace. They need to charge these student leaders immediately. The pictures my daughter showed me after the strike yesterday were disgusting. This was cheap thuggery and goes against the principles that so many of us fought for in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
