Thanks for cleaning up

DSW staff do work hard for Cleveland Road residents.

EDITOR – The Berea Mail article of 31 January 2014, ‘Wayne steps in after DSW fails to act,’ refers.

The filthy habits of occupants of Cleveland Mansions are a huge problem for fellow Cleveland Place residents who wish to thank Mr Grundy for his assistance, as we were away over the holiday season.

Apparently, according to the article, Mr Grundy received no response after requesting assistance by email to the Sizakala Centre, the official website of the Ethekwini Municipality. Did he contact DSW directly?

We feel that to generalise with the headline ‘DSW fails to act,’ is unfair to the Department of Solid Waste and deflating and demoralising to certain dedicated, concerned employees. In particular, Mr Indiran Yerriah (known to us as Nelly,) has responded promptly to our telephonic complaints. On numerous occasions he has arranged for a complete clean-up in front of Cleveland Mansions. This has not solved the problem as within hours, rubbish has again piled up on the pavement.
