EDITOR – Regarding the article about the new requirements at the Bulwer Park service station, I found that I could no longer have my radiator water checked and windscreen cleaned unless I bought petrol (which I did not need).
Although my car servicing and repairs are done elsewhere I have for several years made use of the Bulwer Park forecourt facilities for the simple reason that the attendants are always cheerful and courteous. Mr Ball deserves credit for this but his latest edict puts them in an invidious position through no fault of theirs.
I assume there will soon be another notice to add to those already displayed. The reasons for the present ones are valid but do they need to be so belligerently worded?
Mr Ball’s long and somewhat spurious justification for the latest edict is not impressive. Perhaps he should change the name of his garage, omit the word ‘Service’ and call it Bulwer Park Petrol Station which would more accurately describe what he offers.
For myself as there are two other service stations between my home and workplace, I will in future make use of one of them to spare his forecourt attendants the embarrassment of explaining why they can no longer provide the services they have willingly performed in the past unless I buy petrol I don’t need at the time.
