EDITOR – I was having breakfast on Wednesday 5 March at around 10.30am on the covered deck of Maxi’s at Davenport centre, when an unmarked vehicle pulled up, stopped and a woman in SAPS uniform alighted.
Now this parked vehicle was blocking in three other cars. She strolled into Maxi’s. I thought she would be in and out to do something, and she would be on her way. Not to be. Eventually someone wanted to pull out of their bay, but was blocked in. A car guard offered assistance, by looking for the driver, who was now calmly ensconced inside the restaurant, having a meal and drink with a man in civilian clothing.
Once located (nearly 10 minutes) she nonchalantly meandered out, didn’t even look at the trapped driver or offer an apology, moved her vehicle, parked it in the now vacant bay, and calmly resumed her socialising. The arrogance of a law enforcement officer, in full uniform, is staggering. I wonder if her station commander knew of her whereabouts, and whether the car is an official, albeit unmarked, vehicle?
