Appeal to dog owner to come forward

A resident is urgently trying to contact the owner of the dog who bit her while she was out running.

EDITOR – I had the unfortunate and upsetting experience of having been attacked by a dog on Saturday afternoon, 7 June and need to contact the owner urgently to establish whether the dog has had a rabies inoculation.

The incident occurred when I was running in Musgrave Road in the vicinity of the intersection of Marriott Road. A domestic worker was walking a large dog on a leash. The dog barked at another dog opposite and as I ran past, I was attacked, the dog bit my arm.

Bleeding profusely, a security guard and another gentleman kindly helped and it appeared that the bleeding had subsided. However I had to be taken to Parklands Hospital where I was under observation overnight as an artery had been perforated.

In my state of shock I omitted to establish the name and contact details of the owner of the dog.

As I could not inform the doctor as to the rabies inoculation, I received one rabies injection and will have to have a series of further injections, which are rather unpleasant. However, if I am able to ascertain whether the dog has been inoculated against rabies, this will not be necessary. It will also give me peace of mind.

If the owner reads this letter, it would be appreciated if I could be contacted on 031 312 2533 or 079 495 8439.
